GPAC Swimmers Take a Bite out of the ‘Top Dog’ Invitational

GPAC opened it’s season last weekend at University of West Florida’s aquatic center with a strong showing of over 80 swimmers and six GPAC swimmers taking the honor of ‘Top Dog.’

“This was a fun meet to get our season started with,” said Head Coach Philip Kraus.  “It was great to see so many new names on the heat sheets and how many of the swimmers cheered for each other.”

Grant Bridges, 15, claimed the 14-15 Boys’ high-point award by a mere three points over teammate Harrison Brock.  Grant won two individual events and took second in five others, while Brock won two events and got second in two others.  Harrison also posted all life-best times in his events.

Brooke Ferrara, 14, once again claimed the high-point award for her age group, scoring a perfect 90 points and winning all 10 of her individual events.  Tatiana Oberley, 14, was the runner-up in the 14-15 Girls’ group, winning two events and placing second in eight of her other events.

Cameron Jones, 11, won the 10-11 Boys’ ‘Top Dog’ trophy, winning eight individual events and placing second in two others.  William Henderson, 10, was the runner-up.  William won three individual events, and placed second in three others.

Nate Thomasand Oliva Weekley captured the 16 & Over titles in their divisions.  Thomas, 16, won all eight of his individual events and posted five new life-best times.  Weekley, 16, also won all eight of her individual events.  GPACers Briana Mount was the girls’ runner-up and Cameron Walton was the boys’.
