Oberley, Thomas Named Scholastic All-America

In its annual list of who’s who in swimming and academia released this week, USA Swimming has named GPAC’s Tatiana Oberley and Nate Thomas to the Scholastic All-America team for 2013-2014.

Tatiana, 16, is a junior at Pensacola Christian Academy and swims with Coach Phil on the Senior team. This is her first appointment to this prestigious list, and her impressive breaststroke swims posted last winter coupled with her GPA exceeded the requirements to make the team.

Nate Thomas, 18, is now a freshman at Purdue University, and made the USA Swimming Scholastic All-America list for the second consecutive year. Nate also boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA!

In order to be considered for the Scholastic All-America Team, swimmers must maintain a 3.5 GPA for the current academic year and swim a time equal to a 2011 Junior Nationals bonus time in any event during the qualification period. High school sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible for inclusion.

GPAC is very proud, again, of our athletes that continue to excel in the classroom and the pool! Congratulations to Tatiana and Nate!
