Harris hands verbal to Carson-Newman

Senior Josephine “Jojo” Harris verbally committed to swim for Carson-Newman University next year. Jojo is the second graduating senior that will head to Jefferson City, TN next year, joining fellow classmate Jack Hebert on the Eagles’ swim team.

“Several things stand out to me when making my decision to attend Carson-Newman,” said Harris. “The top reasons I chose this university are the Christian atmosphere displayed by the staff, the academic offerings, positive atmosphere of the swim team, and the beautiful campus. I'm excited for the opportunity to swim in college and I look forward to the growth and development that the coaching and academics will provide.”

“Jojo will provide great depth to the Eagles’ butterfly and freestyle corps,” said GPAC head coach Greg Johnson. “She has developed a strong 100 and 200 butterfly, along with a competitive 500 freestyle that, as a freshman, will help score points for the team.”

Harris is a two-time Southestern Swimming championship qualifier, and is also a two-time FHSAA state qualifier. She has been a member of GPAC for many year, starting her journey, along with her two sisters, as far back as White group.

GPAC is extremely proud of Josephine’s academic and athletic accomplishments, and Jojo is a great example of the ideals that the team wishes to instill in its student-athletes—commitment, development and success in the pool and in the classroom.
