2012 High School All Area Team

 

Teams determined by the Pensacola News Journal

Over all GPAC had 20 swimmers (9 boys & 11 girls) named to the all area teams.  These swimmers represented selections in 26 of the possible 44 swimming event spots which is almost 60%. Only 2 swimmers, either boy or girl, from Class 1A were recognize on the teams and they were GPAC swimmers Brooke Ferrara and Heidi Schellin.  Nathaniel Thomas got the top honor for the boys earning swimmer of the year.  Congratulations to all GPAC Swimmers!

Boys Swimming

First Team

• 200-yard medley relay - Washington (Will Rosasco, Jack Tona, Steffen Mount).

• 200-yard IM - Jack Tona, Washington, Sr.

• 50-yard freestyle - Nathaniel Thomas, Pace, Jr.

• 100-yard breaststroke - Nathaniel Thomas, Pace, Jr.

Boys Swimmer of the Year ~ Nathaniel Thomas- Pace High, Junior

Nathaniel Thomas has surprised the Pensacola-area swimming community. The junior has swam for just the past two seasons and already has a lot to show for it. Thomas finished second in Class 2A in the 50-yard freestyle with an All-American Consideration time of 21.02 seconds. Thomas also finished fifth at state in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.30 seconds.
