Ian Malone commits to IU-Indy
GPAC senior Ian Malone committed to swim for Indiana University-Indianapolis next year, he announced last week.
“I am super excited and grateful to announce my commitment to IU-Indy,” he said. “I am thankful for this opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career at such a great school. I appreciate my family and coaches who have supported me every step of the way. I am proud to be a Jaguar, and can’t wait to represent IU-Indy in the pool and the classroom.”
Ian is a true “homegrown” GPAC swimmer, who began his journey in the team’s Swim School at age six. Ian is a 20-time Southeastern champion, a Florida high school state champion, two-time Winter Junior National finalist and owns many GPAC team records. He also qualified for USA Swimming’s Summer Junior Nationals in 2025 in the 200m freestyle.
“I am really glad to see Ian land at a school at which he will be a solid contributor,” said GPAC head coach Greg Johnson. “I’ve known and worked with Ian for the last 12 years, and I know he loves to compete and loves to go fast. I think he will do great at IU-Indy.”
Ian joins Taylor Clements, who is committed to swim for West Virginia next year, as GPAC’s class of 2026 swimmers who will swim for NCAA Division I schools. GPAC is incredibly proud of the hard work and commitment Ian has demonstrated to get to this level.
