Coaches and Directors
Coach Greg Johnson began his GPAC career in September 2010. Until the Fall of 2018, he served as the Head Age Group Coach but now serves GPAC at the Head Coach. During his time in Pensacola, he has made a huge impact on the GPAC age group program by producing numerous Southeastern Swimming and Age Group Sectional champions, and had swimmers achieve more than 80 team records He has had athletes named to the Open Water Zone Camp in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and he has also guided two swimmers to post top-5 national reportable times in 2014 and 2018. Most recently, he had swimmers earn All-America status through NISCA, and had a 2024 Oly mpic Trials qualifier and put a swimmer on the 2024 U.S. Junior Pan-Pac team .
Coach Greg was named the head coach for Southeastern Swimming zone team in the summer of 2015 and assistant coach in 2016. Greg served as a member of the Board of Directors for Southeastern Swimming from 2015-2019 as the Diversity and Inclusion Chair.
Prior to GPAC, he had 7 years of professional coaching experience; the first four as an assistant with North Carolina Aquatic Club and the University of North Carolina. At NCAC, Coach Greg was the assistant senior coach, working primarily with 13-15-year-olds. In addition, he assisted UNC with the middle distance group, and butterfly/backstroke groups under the tutelage of Randy Erlenbach and the legendary Frank Comfort. In his years in Chapel Hill, Coach Greg assisted with and developed NCAA qualifiers, ACC Champions, 4 Senior National qualifiers, 8 Junior National qualifiers and dozens of sectional qualifiers, as well as multiple state qualifiers, and North Carolina state champions. Greg also coached four summers at UNC Swimming camp.
From 2007-2010 he served as the head coach of Carter Center Aquatics and North Cross School in Roanoke, Virginia. In his tenure he producing several state champions, Junior National qualifiers and his first U.S. Open qualifier. He also implemented a SwimAmerica learn-to-swim program at North Cross and is a certified Program Director.
Coach Greg
currently has Level 4 certification from the American Swim
Coaches Association.
Coach Greg grew up in North Carolina and is a graduate of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has a B.A. degree
in Journalism & Mass Communication with a concentration in
Public Relations. Coach Greg also was a 4-year letter winner for
the Tar Heels from 1998 to 2002 where he specialized in Distance
Free and the Butterfly and was a 2002 ACC finalist in the
200-yd Butterfly. Prior to his professional career, Coach Greg cut
his teeth coaching several different summer league teams in both
his hometown of Winston-Salem, NC and in Chapel Hill.
Coach Greg, along with his wife Samantha and sons
Oliver and Everett, reside in Pace, FL and enjoy weekends away from
the pool by taking trips to the beach and camping in their
1986 VW Vanagon Westfalia. He
also enjoys live music and hopes one day to be a contestant on The
Price is Right.
Coach Bre began working with GPAC Swim School before transitioning to lead coach at PSC working with the White, Blue and Green Groups.
Coach Bre’s swimming career began in Houston Tx with Southeast Texas Aqua Racers, then relocated to Kingwood Tx, swimming for Blue Tide Aquatics. In 2003, she was the Texas Age Group Swimming Champion in the 100 Breaststroke, 2nd place finisher in the 200 Breaststroke and along with her teammates, apart of the 13-14 girls age group high point recipient and Junior National Qualifier. Coach Bre swam for Kingwood High School, where she became an All-American, All-State athlete and Texas State qualifier. Coach Bre helped her team secure District and Regional championships 4 years in a row and a 4th place finish at Texas State.
Coach Bre attended Missouri State University and swam for the Bears, specializing in the 100/200 Free, 100/200 Fly and 200 IM. She earned All-MVC Honors & All-MVC First Team her Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year for her performances at Conference as well as Missouri Valley Champion in the 200 Fly. Bre’s coaching career began at Missouri State coaching for the Aqua Bears during this time. She then transitioned to volunteer coaching for Central High School and Rogersville High School Swim Teams before graduating with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology.
Coach Bre then went on to coaching the Parsons Dolphins for a few years, which is a smaller tri-state swimming team in Kansas before moving to Plano Tx, and coaching age group athletes at City of Plano Swim Team where she had TAGS qualifiers.
Coach Bre along with her husband Adam and their daughters, Ashtyn and Allie recently relocated to Pace FL. Her husband serves as an Officer in the US Navy. Coach Bre enjoys photography, the beach and spending time with family.
Coach Alex Gillespie began coaching GPAC in the Fall of 2005.
Coach Alex is an assistant coach with the White, Blue, Green and Flex Groups at The University of West Florida..
Alex’s
coaching style brings out the best in his swimmers and he has a
distinct talent for instilling a love and appreciation for the
sport in even his youngest athletes. He provides a strong
foundation for his swimmers to move up and become successful
southeast conference age group competitors.
Coach Alex
brings a wealth of knowledge to his athletes as a former GPAC
swimmer himself. During his competitive tenure with GPAC, Alex was
a two-time Southeastern Champion in the 100 meter
breaststroke. He was also a state high school finalist,
Junior National Qualifier, and earned a place on the Florida State
All-Star Team in his junior and senior years. He was a NCAA
Division I Mid-Major Scholarship Swimmer for the University of
Louisiana in Monroe.
Alex and his
wife, Allison, and their son AJ reside in
Pace.
Coach Kevin started coaching with GPAC in the Summer of 2013.
Coach Kevin has been a Physical Education teacher at R.C. Lipscomb Elementary School since 2001. He coached youth soccer for nine years and received multiple soccer coaching certifications. He also has previous coaching experience with Milestone Aquatic Club when they had their own program.
While in Erie, Pennsylvania, he gained coaching experiences with the McDowell Trojans High School Swimming and Diving team, the Learn to Swim Program, and swam there with the Master’s team. In Edinboro, PA he taught swim classes for homeschool students. Kevin has earned three degrees with a Physical Education BS, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania; a Physical Education MS, University of West Florida; and a Physical Education Ed.S. and Coaching Graduate Certificate, Florida State University. He is presently enrolled in the Ed.D. Program in Physical Education & Health at UWF. Coach Kevin has a Level 2 Certification from the American Swim Coaches Association.
Coach Kevin and his wife, Sarah, reside in Pensacola with their three children, Kobi, Korbin and Kiley. The Menser trio all compete with GPAC and train at UWF.
Christina started with the club as a parent and has moved behind the scenes using her skills as both a member of the club and parent to help others in the office.
